In 1998 ben ik voor het eerst in Schotland geweest. Het was liefde op het eerste gezicht. Een prachtig land en prachtige spoorlijnen.
In 1998 I visited Scotland for the first time. It was like love at first sight. It's a beautiful country with astonishing railwaylines.
We zijn er de afgelopen jaren nog 4 keer terug geweest. Inmiddels hebben we zowat heel Schotland doorgereisd per auto en trein. En dat blijven we ook de komende jaren doen.
In the past years we've been back 4 times. By now we have traveled all over Scotland by car and by train. And we will surely be visiting in the comming years.
Al in 1998 kwam ik voor het eerst in Brora. Ik weet niet wat het was, maar ik voelde me daar gelijk op mijn gemak. Vlakbij de zee, leuk stadje, rijke historie, mooi maar vervallen treinstation.
As early as 1998 I first visited Brora. I'm not sure what it was, but I immediately felt at ease there. Near the sea, lovely town, rich history, beautiful but run down trainstation.
Het station is gebouwd in 1895 en ligt op de zogenaamde Far North Line van Inverness naar Wick/Thurso.
The station was built in 1895 and is situated at the Far North Line from inverness to Wick/Thurso.
De ligging van het station leent zich voor een mooi diorama. Het ligt bijvoorbeeld vlakbij een rivier met spoorbrug en het landschap waarin het ligt is minstens zo spectaculair als het station zelf.
The station's location/position lends itself to build a beautiful diorama. For instance it is positioned near a river with a railwaybridge and the surrounding scenery/landscape is at least as spectacular as the station itself.
De afgelopen 2 jaar heb ik al een aantal ontwerpen gemaakt op papier en op het scherm. Na een aantal jaren zonder tijd en plaats om het diorama te bouwen ben ik hier in december 2012 mee gestart.
The past 2 years I've already made a few designs on paper and screen. After a few years without time and space to realise the diorama I finally started the build in december 2012.
